ang tahong at ang pagong

i had dinner with some of my old friends in glorietta tuesday night, we ordered pizza and pasta and as usual bottomless iced tea, i was trying to avoid meat these days, aside from the meat churva issue, holy week is just around the corner i told myself, so i opted for a seafood pasta, flat noodles in oil and garlic, with prawns and TAHONG, when everything was serve on the table everybody started eating with all their hearts content, the pasta was meant for sharing, very generous serving i thought, the pizza was good, i love mushrooms and cheese please, after the dinner, the chika was not yet over, we made a beeline at starbucks shangrila, i am not a coffee drinker, just ordered hot chocolate, we ended up until 11pm. At the apartment...after my night rituals and my nighttime prayer i even texted my friend and told her, "let's do this once in a while nakaka unwind pag nagkikita kita tayo".. an so on and on....5:30 am when i started experiencing butterflies in my stomach....first aid....CR hehehe...and again for the second time and the third time....until i stopped counting...my knees were shaking...good thing my savior Tita Dory was there to take care of me...dadalin ka na sa emergency...ayoko ng dextrose!!!!!!!made dehydrate ka na....pwede gatorade na lang? ang tigas tigas ng ulo mo....alam ko hehehe, pero syempre nasa isip ko lang ang mga yan...kasi i thought i was going to die na!!! promise...to make the long story short....na sickleave ako...
after visiting the emergency the doctor said it's the TAHONG, just take this and do that and do not eat this and rest and take a lot of fluids....i'm not used to staying at home...i am used to thinking of the maturities for the day, the vault, the armored car, the bulk deposits....hay, this is what you may call boredom i told myself...

...so i decided to clean my notes and as i was going through the trash i came across an article, i don't even know who wrote it but it makes a beautiful reflection and i thought i might share it with you....the author used the turtle as an example of gambling in love..

...THE TURTLE IS VERY SAFE AND SECURE WHEN IT PULLS IN ITS HEAD AND ITS FEET AND HIDES INSIDE ITS SHELL. NOT MUCH CAN HARM THE TURTLE THEN, BUT WHEN IT PULLS IN ITS HEAD AND ITS FEET, IT DOESN'T GO ANY PLACE EITHER, IT IS JUST STUCK THERE IN THE MIDDLE PATH. IN ORDER TO MOVE FORWARD, THE TURTLE HAS TO STICK ITS HEAD AND FEET OUTSIDE ITS SHELL AND RUN THE RISK OF GETTING THEM CHOPPED OFF. WE CAN BE LIKE THE TURTLE TOO WE ARE VERY SAFE AND SECURE WHEN WE DON'T STICK OUR HEADS OUT. WE CAN BE VERY SAFE IN LOVE WHEN WE DON'T STICK OUR HEADS OUT. WE WON'T GET HURT VERY OFTEN IF WE DON'T TAKE A CHANCE ON LOVE. BUT THEN, WE DON'T GO VERY FAR EITHER. WE WON'T GET HURT OR REJECTED, BUT WE WON'T GET MUCH LOVE EITHER.

...i used to be like the turtle after a heartbreak, safe in my shells of selfishness, but then i realized that we have to gamble on other people or take a chance on them or i will end up like the turtle, safe but lonely and unloved, despite of heartaches..life is still beautiful!!!!
